Alma College Fire
May 28, 2008
Alma College in St. Thomas burned to the ground today, which is sad, sad, sad. The once imposing Victorian building sat abandoned since the 1980’s, and lately it became a wonderful place to explore. We went there often, each time amazed by the scale of the place and sheer beauty of the stones.
Now, a “suspicious fire, which was seen as far away as London, completely gutted the building. The London Free Press has some photos of the fire, and Flickr has some shots of the aftermath.

I was hoping to get there and hadn’t managed it yet :(
Wow, that’s a creepy photo. Reminiscent of a scene from Quills.
