It’s been two years since Laura and I met in a darkened theater, giggled uncontrollably for hours, and then threw ourselves at each other with considerable longing. Since then, our lives changed and intermingled in wonderful ways: we discovered new places, new ways to touch, moved in together, and got a dog.

So we decided to celebrate our newfound selves. “We’ll go on an adventure,” we said, loading the doggy into the car. The adventure ended rather quickly 20 minutes later when our fingers (and our dog) froze in -35 degrees weather. Instead of wild adventures, we celebrated by nursing our wounds on a couch for the rest of the day. Somehow, in the last two years our lives became endearingly domestic and yet as deeply satisfying as a warm drink on a cold day.
