You Turn My Oranges Inside Out
April 15, 2006
Jason got a sleek, oiled machine for his bike ride across Canada this summer — I could see it sparkle seductively from the other end of the street when I met him and Kylie, his partner in cross-country adventures, this morning.
“Holy shit, it even has fenders!” I said.
“It’s the BMW of bikes,” Kylie said, slightly disillusioned with her saggy, green bicycle.
We spent a while feeling up Jason and his bicycle before taking off on a training run to Cambridge. The ride there was superb: the wind was at our back, the day was sunny and warm, and along the way we passed all those places where I made out with pretty girls on damp nights.
And Cambridge was just as spectacular, with its trees full of wild animals and rotten fruits. We felt breathlessly at ease until we got back on our bikes to return home. This time, the winds and the hills were against us. The ride home was treacherous. Jason on his sleek bike whizzed ahead of us and we fought against the air currents to keep up.
When I made it home after 60 km of biking my head hit the pillow and I was instantly cradled in dreams. I’m getting too old for this biking thing.
Multiple Perspectives:
- I like to ride my bicycle (Jason’s entry)
- Some flickr photos
- First Cambridge (old entry)

i am commenting to let you know that i downloaded the raccoon photo above and will use it as my msn messenger display pic for the next little while. i took the trouble to check you creative commons license. i also have the share-alike feature, but i don’t want to damage your photo to attribute it to you in this format. Let me know if this is a problem and i will refrain. it’s a beautiful shot, as are the others :) i intend to return for more eye-candy in the future.
Hey Heather! I’m flattered you like the racoon photo and you’re using it in your MSN. That’s just awesome. Thanks for letting me know and don’t worry about the attribution :)
