From Good Shit to Bullshit
August 08, 2005
Yesterday I slept for 18 hours and I still haven’t fully recovered from the blogathon. Apparently, writing gives me worse hangovers than booze. I can only imagine what drinking while writing would do to me …
The early hours of the morning were the toughest — that’s when I couldn’t concentrate anymore and Laura fell asleep naked and shivering on my bed. At that point, all I wanted to do was to crawl in her arms. What little energy I had flew out the window and I just started making shit up.
Put another way, this is what the 2005 blogathon looked like:

But despite the fact that my writing went from good shit to bullshit, I had a lot of fun doing the blogathon. On one hand, I got to span the fuck out of livejournal and completely overwhelm my friends’ pages; on the other hand, I got to raise money for something I care deeply about. And of course, I’m deeply grateful to all of you for helping me with your pledges, your support, and your funny comments during my orgy of writing.
If you made a pledge, you will receive an email tomorrow from a machine with instructions on how to donate. Emails written by machines are pretty funny. Essentially, everything you give should go directly to the charity — you can either make a donation online through CanadaHelps.org, or you can throw a cheque in an envelope and mail it to:
Laubach Literacy Ontario
8A-65 Noecker Street
Waterloo, ON

Thank you! You’re beautiful. I hope it was good for you too, and if you I can mail you a print of one of my photos or a postcard from the exciting city where I live.

How do you get more than 100% creativity?
Posted by: Dave on August 09, 2005 at 12:45 AMOh shit! I totally forgot!!! (Had some drama with my grandma, who fell and seriously injured herself.) Can I contribute? I live in the US, do I have to send Canadian currency? Please advise, thanks.
Posted by: jules on August 09, 2005 at 01:10 AMreally, a picture! just let me know where to send it :).
and jules, you can contribute directly to the charity online — it shouldn’t be a problem. thank you, and i’m sorry about your grandma drama :).
thanks for your donation dave — you’re awesome. as far as the graph goes, the “creativity” axis should perhaps be labeled IQ.
