Policy Schmolicy
October 07, 2004

BOD meetings are full of joyful contradictions and self-defeating motions.
Last night, for instance, we unanimously passed a risk management policy meant to discourage people form doing silly things like getting shitfaced while on WLUSU events. We felt this motion would lower our liability; we even forced campus groups to get separate insurance for events where booze is the primary focus.
But at the same time we released a statement stating that Steve Welker did not violate our risk management policy when he drank in a gondola while on the Dean’s trip. In other words, it’s all right to do silly things in awkward places while on a WLUSU event as long as you call it “free time.” Campus groups are encouraged to follow Steve’s example and do whatever feels right. Take risks! What we call “policy” is more of a … umm … guideline.
To chronicle all this BOD madness, I decided to start updating my Road to Change again.

Posted by: PD on October 07, 2004 at 03:46 PMso now we can bring flasks to CL events as long as we call it free time?
Posted by: mike on October 07, 2004 at 05:03 PMYou could *always* bring flasks to CL events because we’re in no way affiliated with WLUSU. The policy applies strictly to groups that are in some way dependent on the Students’ Union.
So go ahead, bring a flask!
