Smooth Ride

January 03, 2004

Today’s trip to Canadian Tired was followed by an intense bike repair session in my garage. A new chain and a bit of lubrication made everyone happy — my bike is now smooth as hell, and though my fingers froze I’m delighted to have my beast working again.

The beast was in rough shape after two years of vigorous use: gears refused to turn and the chain was so rusty it made an odd clatter as I pedaled. With a little help from my friend I got the gears cleaned and the chain replaced. I should show my bike more affection since it takes me everywhere.

Tomorrow I’ll go biking somewhere … smoothly. Thanks to global warming, it now feels like spring in KW.

Global warming is a hippy/commie myth. Think of the long term agricultural and tourism benefits.

If global warming allows me to comfortably bike around in the middle of January it is cleary good!
