Everywhere a Blog
November 25, 2003
Blogging is contagious! In the last few days blogs spread like a virus through Laurier’s online community and I have to take some of the blame. When I started documenting my existence with brutal honesty for all to see, there were only a handful of other Laurier students actively writing about their lives on the web. That number has easily doubled since then, especially after I launched ClubLaurier’s blogging project.
Blogs and discourse are back to the forefront, and I’m quite excited about this. Brian started a blog, Cricket started another, and even Fraser is doing weird things with his blog. I’ll soon have to expand my blogroll ;).
Blogging seems to be everywhere. I got a list of blogs located geographically close to me, and yes, there is some interesting stuff happening out there.
Most of these blogs are written by university kids, and this should come as no surprise. As the New York Times reported, “techies in their late teens and 20’s are more likely to create online content, like Web logs.” We are the generation that will outpour a lot of creative energy into the Internet, fulfilling the mad digital dream of connecting minds through space.
The blogs just launched do have a lot of potential, and because I know at least a bit about the lives behind the blogs, what people write is sweet to read.
And speaking of sweets, Kristine just made my day. I received a box of Ferrero Rocher and a card from her as a thank you gift for helping her design a website. Wow — the candy is delicious and the card is beyond sexy. And yes, Kristine will soon start a blog too.

Posted by: Brian on November 25, 2003 at 10:21 PMYes, I too am glad they rewarded me and not Greg Smith (as you suggested ;)).
Posted by: Tudor on November 25, 2003 at 10:24 PMI suggested that we take the chocolates and replace kristine’s gift with a bottle of water or something like that.
Get your facts straight next time!
Posted by: Brian on November 25, 2003 at 10:30 PMI want to joinn. LJ is so passé.
Posted by: backdrifter on November 26, 2003 at 02:32 AMBrian, the chocolates were a gift for me, you fool! You wanted to replace them with a bottle of water? Wha?
And yes backdrifter, you’re welcome to join the ClubLaurier blogging project (just drop me an email at tudor[at]wluexposed[dot]org for more details).

Posted by: TMH on December 02, 2003 at 04:17 AMNo love?! I added you to my bloody blogroll —what more do you want?
At the time I wrote my entry your blog was pretty dead, hence, there was nothing worth mentioning.
Posted by: Tudor on December 02, 2003 at 12:58 PMA lil’ late in the response, but I’m glad you liked the chocolates!
